Evans Plywood Company

Founded in Los Angeles in the 1940s, the Evans Plywood Company played a pivotal role in the development of modern American furniture design. Working closely with Charles and Ray Eames, Evans pioneered advanced molded plywood manufacturing techniques that made many of the Eameses’ most innovative designs possible. Before Herman Miller assumed production in 1949, Evans was responsible for manufacturing the earliest LCW, DCW, and other molded plywood models. As a result, Evans-produced examples are particularly valued by collectors for their rarity and their direct connection to the experimental beginnings of the Eames plywood program.
