Designed by Carlo Nason for Mazzega in the 1960s, the Model LT226 table lamp is a refined example of Italian Murano glass design from the period. Characterized by its distinctive mushroom-shaped silhouette, the lamp combines a broad domed shade with a cylindrical base, creating a composition that is both simple and remarkably effective.

Executed entirely in yellow Murano glass, the design explores the relationship between colour, transparency, and light. The softly rounded shade appears to float above the transparent cylindrical base, while the glass gently diffuses the illumination to create a warm and atmospheric glow. The monochromatic treatment further emphasizes the purity of the form and the exceptional quality of the glass.

The LT226 demonstrates Carlo Nason’s ability to transform traditional Murano craftsmanship into modern, architectural objects. Its balanced proportions and sculptural presence allow it to function equally as a source of light and as a decorative object, whether placed on a side table, console, or desk.

Increasingly sought after by collectors of Italian design and Murano lighting, the model remains one of the most recognizable expressions of Nason’s work for Mazzega. Decades after its introduction, the design retains a timeless quality that feels as contemporary today as it did upon its release.
