Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen

Born in 1916, Hvidt trained as an architect and later co-founded a design studio with Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, with whom he created numerous iconic pieces throughout the 1940s to 1970s.

Their work is celebrated for its clean lines, functional form, and innovative use of materials such as laminated wood. Hvidt’s designs, including the famous AX Chair, reflect the principles of Danish modernism—blending simplicity, craftsmanship, and practicality.
