Designed by Hans Engholm and Svend Åge Willumsen in 1958 for Fritz Hansen, the Model 4508 tray table is true to Danish functionalism. Combining elegant proportions with thoughtful practicality, the design consists of two separate elements: a removable circular tray in teak-veneered plywood and a foldable solid teak base. The tray rests securely within the frame, allowing it to be used independently while making the table easy to store or relocate.

The sculptural simplicity of the construction reflects the designers’ emphasis on honest materials and understated craftsmanship. The warm teak grain is complemented by the clean lines of the folding base, creating a versatile piece that functions equally well as a side table, occasional table or serving tray.

The table retains its original stamped Fritz Hansen mark underneath, together with the original Illums Bolighus plaque, adding to its authenticity and provenance. A timeless design that remains as practical and relevant today as when it was first introduced.
