Stilnovo is one of Italy’s most influential lighting manufacturers, founded in Milan in 1946 by designer Bruno Gatta. Renowned for its pioneering role in mid-century Italian design, Stilnovo became celebrated for creating innovative lighting fixtures that combined modernist aesthetics with advanced engineering and exceptional craftsmanship.
During the 1950s and 1960s, the company collaborated with some of Italy’s leading designers, including Joe Colombo, Gae Aulenti, Ettore Sottsass, and Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Stilnovo’s lighting designs became known for their sculptural forms, vibrant colors, adjustable structures, and sophisticated use of materials such as brass, aluminum, opaline glass, and lacquered metal. The brand played a major role in defining the visual language of Italian modern lighting, balancing functionality with artistic experimentation.
