Osvaldo Borsani

Osvaldo Borsani (1911–1985) was an influential Italian architect and furniture designer, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Italian design. He was the founder of Tecno, the renowned furniture company known for combining advanced technology with elegant design.

Borsani’s work blended innovation, craftsmanship, and functionality. He designed both luxurious handcrafted furniture and highly technical modern pieces, often experimenting with new materials and mechanisms. One of his most famous creations is the P40 lounge chair (1955), celebrated for its adjustable form and engineering sophistication.

His designs combined the elegance of Italian modernism with a strong focus on comfort and practicality, helping shape postwar European furniture design. Today, Osvaldo Borsani’s work is considered iconic and remains highly sought after by collectors and design museums worldwide.
