Hsin-Lun Ling

Hsin-Lung Lin is a Chinese designer originally from Taiwan. She studied Chinese philosophy and ethics before continuing her education in Germany, where she trained in industrial design. This combination of philosophical background and technical design education is often reflected in her work, which tends to balance functional clarity with a more conceptual or cultural sensitivity.

During her career, she worked in the Scandinavian glass industry and was associated with both Holmegaard Glasværk and Fyens Glasværk. At Fyens Glasværk in Odense, she was involved in lighting design during a period when the factory was being developed as a specialist production site for lamps and lighting glass. One of her known works from this context is the Mandarin lamp series (1978–1981), produced in opal and coloured glass.

She is also listed as the designer of the Ambassador lamp (1978–1981), which reflects the experimental and industrial lighting design direction of Fyens Glasværk in the late 1970s, when the company was integrating more design-led production into its catalogue.
