Bruno Mathsson

Bruno Mathsson (1907–1988) was a Swedish designer and architect renowned for his pioneering work in modern furniture design. Deeply influenced by functionalism and the study of human ergonomics, he developed innovative seating that emphasized comfort, lightness, and natural posture. Mathsson is best known for iconic designs such as the Pernilla lounge chair, the Eva chair, and the Superellipse table.

Using bentwood, laminated birch, and woven webbing, his work combined technical innovation with Scandinavian simplicity, leaving a lasting impact on modern design and architecture.
