Model 812 Stoneware Table Lamp

This sculptural model 812 table lamp was designed by Danish ceramicist Jette Hellerøe for Axella Keramik during the 1960s. Executed in glazed stoneware, the lamp is a characteristic example of Danish studio ceramics from the period, combining an expressive, tactile surface with a strong and balanced form.
The ceramic base is composed of a rounded central body, a slender neck and a subtly flared foot. Its most distinctive feature is the deeply textured decoration around the spherical body. Rows of hand-worked relief create a rhythmic pattern that follows the curvature of the form, giving the lamp a pronounced sculptural quality. The darker glaze settles into the recesses of the decoration, emphasising the texture and creating a rich contrast with the lighter, earthy tones of the neck and base.
Hellerøe’s approach to ceramics is particularly evident in the interplay between form, texture and glaze. The irregularities inherent to the stoneware and glazing process contribute to the individual character of the piece, while the elongated proportions give the lamp an elegant vertical presence.
Produced by Axella Keramik in Denmark, model 812 reflects the close relationship between functional design and studio pottery that characterised much Danish ceramic production during the 1960s.
The lamp has been fitted with a vintage matching shade in a warm ivory tone, carefully chosen to complement the natural colours and tactile character of the stoneware base.
Condition
This item will work with a standard E26/E27 bulb. On request we can convert it for US usage.
