Designed by Ingo Maurer, this sculptural table lamp exemplifies the designer’s ability to transform simple forms into timeless objects of exceptional elegance. Executed in opaline glass, the lamp is defined by its graceful hourglass silhouette, where soft curves and balanced proportions create a refined yet highly recognizable design.

The luminous quality of the opaline glass allows the lamp to interact beautifully with light, subtly diffusing illumination while emphasizing the purity of its form. Free from unnecessary ornamentation, the design places its focus on proportion, material, and craftsmanship—principles that became hallmarks of Maurer’s work throughout his career.

The lamp has been newly fitted with a bespoke Pierre Frey shade in deep blue. The embroidered linear pattern introduces a contemporary layer of texture and colour, creating a sophisticated dialogue with the smooth, sculptural glass base. The combination enhances the lamp’s architectural character while respecting the integrity of the original design.

Equally compelling illuminated or at rest, the lamp functions as both a lighting object and a sculptural presence. Ingo Maurer’s work is celebrated for its clarity, innovation, and enduring relevance, and this model is a fine example of the understated elegance that has made his designs highly sought after by collectors of twentieth-century lighting.
