An elegant floor lamp designed by Uno & Östen Kristiansson for Luxus in Sweden during the 1960s. Characterised by its slender proportions and refined combination of materials, the lamp is a beautiful example of Scandinavian mid-century lighting, balancing understated design with carefully considered craftsmanship.
The design features a tall, slender stem wrapped in warm cognac-coloured leather, with a distinctive spiral pattern running along its entire length. This decorative detail introduces a subtle sense of rhythm and texture, transforming an otherwise simple vertical element into an expressive feature. The stem rises from a circular brass base, whose warm metallic finish complements the natural tones of the leather while providing a stable foundation.
A newly fitted cylindrical fabric shade completes the composition. Its generous proportions contrast with the exceptionally slender stem, creating a balanced silhouette. The natural, slightly textured fabric diffuses the light softly, producing a warm and inviting atmosphere when illuminated.
The Kristiansson brothers were known for their thoughtful approach to lighting design, frequently combining natural materials with simple geometric forms. Their work for Luxus reflects the Scandinavian tradition of functional design, where craftsmanship, material quality and carefully balanced proportions take precedence over unnecessary ornamentation.
With its elegant height, distinctive leather detailing and restrained material palette, this floor lamp is particularly suited to a living room, reading corner or sophisticated contemporary interior.
The perfect fit to complete your interior.
