Model 4150 Brass Wall Lamp with Rotatable Screen
by Bertil Brisborg for Nordiska Kompaniet
Design: 1940s | Manufactured: 1940s | Origin: Sweden
This distinctive model 4150 brass wall lamp was produced by Nordiska Kompaniet in Sweden during the 1940s and is attributed to Swedish designer Bertil Brisborg. The lamp itself is marked with the manufacturer and model number rather than the designer’s name.
The design features two light sources positioned behind a large curved brass screen. This screen can be rotated, allowing the direction and character of the illumination to be adjusted. Depending on its position, the screen shields the light sources and directs the light towards the wall or into the surrounding space, creating a warm and atmospheric effect.
Its elongated curved screen is combined with a circular internal element and a simple rectilinear wall-mounted structure. The composition is both functional and sculptural, reflecting the refined approach to lighting associated with Swedish design of the period. Executed in brass, the lamp has a warm material presence that is further enhanced by the naturally developed patina.
The brass retains traces of use consistent with the age of the piece, giving the surface depth and character while preserving its authentic vintage appearance.
The fixture is marked with the NK manufacturer’s mark and model number 4150, identifying it as a production by Nordiska Kompaniet. The lamp’s wiring has been checked and it is ready for installation.
