Albano Poli (born 1958) is an Italian designer known for his expressive, concept-driven approach that blends design, art, and cultural storytelling. After graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Verona, he became associated with the influential Memphis movement in the 1980s, collaborating with figures such as Ettore Sottsass. Poli’s work spans furniture, objects, exhibitions, and interiors, often characterized by bold colors, symbolic forms, and a playful yet critical view of contemporary culture.
Lighting plays a distinctive role in his oeuvre: Poli’s lamp designs are conceived as sculptural glass objects rather than purely functional products. His designs frequently combine unconventional shapes, vivid color contrasts, and bold compositions, turning light into a medium for expression and atmosphere.
