Large Ceramic Table Lamp

This large ceramic table lamp by Løvemose Keramik by Danish studio pottery, is from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Defined by its sculptural silhouette and richly textured surface, the lamp reflects the organic aesthetic that became a hallmark of Scandinavian ceramic design during the period.

The body is composed of two contrasting forms that together create a balanced architectural profile. The lower section is finished in a softly textured off-white glaze, while the elongated upper body features a deeply incised horizontal relief highlighted by alternating cream and dark brown glazes. The tactile surface emphasizes the handcrafted character of the piece, creating a subtle interplay of light and shadow across the ceramic body.

The lamp is fitted with a new lampshade that complements the earthy tones and sculptural quality of the ceramic base. The natural texture of the linen softens the light beautifully, enhancing the warm, organic character of the piece while remaining sympathetic to its original Scandinavian aesthetic.

Produced by Løvemose Keramik, a Danish pottery known for its expressive glazes and sculptural forms, the lamp demonstrates the workshop’s affinity for natural textures and earthy colour palettes. The bold proportions allow it to function as both a practical lighting fixture and a decorative ceramic object, making it equally suited to a sideboard, console, or large bedside table.
