Charlotte Perriand

Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) was a French architect and designer who played a key role in shaping modernist design in the 20th century. After joining Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in 1927, she co-designed some of the most iconic furniture of the modern movement, including the LC4 Chaise Longue, LC2 and LC3 armchairs, and innovative storage systems. Perriand later developed an independent practice inspired by nature, craftsmanship, and social ideals, creating furniture and interiors that balanced industrial production with warmth and human scale. Her work remains influential for its clarity, functionality, and commitment to improving everyday life through design.
