Sgabello in pino 'Jonte', set da 2

A pair of “Jonte” stools designed by Gilbert Marklund, Sweden, circa 1960s.

Crafted from solid pine, these stools demonstrate Marklund’s thoughtful approach to form, material, and construction. The design is characterized by broad plank supports and a gently curved slatted seat, creating a balanced composition that is both functional and visually refined.

Rooted in the Scandinavian Modern tradition, the stools celebrate the natural qualities of the wood through clean lines, honest construction, and careful craftsmanship. The warm tone and pronounced grain of the pine contribute to their quiet presence and enduring appeal.

Versatile in use, the Jonte stools can serve as seating, side tables, or sculptural accents within a range of interiors. Their simple geometry and well-considered proportions reflect the enduring values of Swedish design during the mid-century period.

Gilbert Marklund is recognized for furniture that combines robust construction with a restrained aesthetic, and the Jonte model remains among his most distinctive designs.
